Significantly more efficient than other portables of same BTU non inverters. This unit cools much better and faster than others and if you have read comments about being noisy I will tell you that is not true, this unit is very quiet, running the fan in low is actually a whisper compared with window type AC's. One thing that is not included is the yellow Energy Guide tag where it tells you the EER/SEER of the unit, however running 14btu on 12amp@115v will be no less than a 12.0 EER on a non inverter unit so let's say this one being an inverter type may reach in between 12-13 EER which is the most efficient portable unit I've seen. I also have the window dual inverter LG LW1517IVSM 14,000BTU and the noise on both are actually equal, however the window unit cools faster and has more capacity as the portable unit actually works like a 10k btu as indicated by the manufacturer and I confirmed that to be true. One thing I have also heard about is that it has a small container to retain the water but I have no problem with that so simple solution is to drill a hole on the wall an drain it directly outside attaching a longer hose to the existing one. Overall, this unit is impressive; being an inverter allows you to run it with a small generator like my Westinghouse WH2400i without any problem.Read full review

When I purchased I really wanted the LG as it is one of the largest portable air conditioners made AND it has an inverter which will save me in energy costs. Previously I had a generic type 8,000 btu. The LG is not really any louder than the smaller one. It's in my living room ans I expect an air conditioner to have noise so it doesn't bother me at all. The LG is fantastic though! The air that comes out is super icy and the vent moves up and down which I think helps to more thoroughly cool the room. Skip all other brands and just buy this one.

I bought this ac to go in semi truck and run off a generator. It replaced a 10,000 btu portable ac. This is 14000 btu but actually uses less energy. The reason for this is because a standard ac cools down to a set point then shuts off until it warms up again. This one uses what’s called an inverter compressor, which means once it reaches its set point it can slow down compressor and maintain temp more precisely. It’s running off Honda 2000 watt generator, and the old ac I would have to refill after about 5 hours on a 90 degree day, but this one will run on the same generator for over 10 hours.

Awesome AC, very energy efficient!! I have added another layer of hose on the existing exhaust house and feel no heat is escaping from the exhaust hose now, it’s better insulated, thinking of adding a second hose for intake from outside to make it dual hose thus boosting the efficiency further. As of now very satisfied with the product.

Powerful and effective. Portable AC units are often said to work poorly, so I decided to go big and get the best one I could find to make sure I got the performance I wanted. I'm impressed, this unit could easily cool a much larger room, I only use it on the slowest fan setting. The hose and window panel store in the unit when transporting, making this a truly portable unit.
