Just what my Zenith Transoceanic Royal 3000-1 needed.
When I received my 3000-1 only the FM band worked. After a little internet research, I realized the most likely problem was a bad transistor. My brother has a 3000-1 in good working order so I started switching out the transistors from his to mine and bingo; when I put in his mixer transistor 351 mine received reception on AM and all other shortwave bands! The only problem was that he needed that transistor for his radio to operate. Well I had to find a replacement for mine and originals are hard to come by so with more research I found the NTE 160 PNP Transistor to be a a new plug and play replacement. It looks different from the original yet seems to work just fine. It's nice to know you can get new replacements for a radio that's nearly fifty years old.When I received my 3000-1 only the FM band worked. It did what i needed
I troubleshot a KLH Twenty-One down to a 2N3588 with an open emitter. It crossed to an NTE160. I got the NTE160 and now the radio plays beautifully. As my uncle would say, Ahhhh..... Just what I wanted.

They won't replace the oscillator function in the Zenith D1000 Transoceanic.
These transistors are NOT acceptable replacements for the oscillator function in a Zenith Transoceanic radio model D1000 Transoceanic. They won't oscillate above 100 MHz,
