FUNCTION: I love this blender because it not only purees items but it also chops and cooks at the same time. The blade, once on, spins at 219 miles per hour. Which is why when you empty its contents, the liquid is piping hot (assuming you did not put ice in). It's great for making soups with, which comes in so handy when you don't have time to put everything in a pot. CLEAN-UP: It is so easy. All you have to do is fill the jar with water and a few drops of dishwashing liquid, turn on the machine and it cleans itself. Easy-peasy. SIZE: It is big enough to put lots of ingredients in, so you can make several servings of say, a strawberry smoothie and not have to keep dong it over and over. My only problem with its size is that it can't fit into a storage cabinet because it is too tall. BLADE STRENGTH: The blades are extremely sturdy. You can put it completely frozen ice cubes and it will puree them in seconds. Not liquefy but deconstruct the molecules in such a way that the ice is pared down in tiny bits. This is why Starbucks uses these units for making their frappuccinos. PRICE: It is well worth it. You get a 5 year warranty. And a hotline to call in case you have ANY problems with your unit. They replace parts/units at their own cost. VERSATILITY: You can blend whatever you want with this, but an added feature is that you can make soups with it too! You can make smoothies as well. Hot or cold mixes, the Vitamix can make it. I truly suggest that you buy this item if you are like me, a mom with not too much time on her hands. Once I get home from work, I pick up my son from daycare, and I don't have lots of spare time to cook a meal from scratch. I hate buying ready-to-eat heatable meals because they are not healthy and are full of sodium. So at least with the Vitamix, I can create soups whose sodium content I can control. And the taste is so homemade, so my husband and son just love my concoctions. The Vitamix unit also comes with a handy recipe book, so in case you run out of your own ideas, they can help you with theirs. :)Read full review
For anyone who has a hard time trying to consume their fruits and veges every day, this product is great! Mixing fruits with vegetables makes everything very palatable, if not delicious. You can make beverages, purees, smoothies, drinks, and soups in a snap. Comes with a wonderful, easy recipe book. The drinks are filling, so you don't feel hungry in a half hour like with straight juices. Clean up is amazingly easy too. We used to have a huge, expensive juicer years ago but couldn't stand the filter clean-up. This is just a big blender, really, and the clean-up is that easy. I'm thrilled that my husband likes it because he hates eating fruit and vegetables. His first comment upon tasting the drink I made was, "Hey this is great for when we don't have teeth" LOL!! We've only been using it for about three weeks, but so far, rave reviews.Read full review
I purchased this blender as a way to make my own flours. My diet had to change recently and I found almond flours were too expensive at the grocery store. After doing some research I learned you could make them yourself. This blender came highly reviewed for such uses, so I bought it. I've used it a few times to make flours and am very pleased. Occasionally one of the almost is't as ground up as I'd like, but I think that's more me being too worried about it turning into butter because it's on too long than a problem with the blender. It's very noisy, but most of what I do (flours and smoothies) are done in under a minute, so it isn't too bad. Overall, it does exactly what I wanted and should save me money in the long run. It's expensive, but powerful and the tamper is a nice feature to shove ingredients down so they actually blend. It's also easy to clean. It's far better than a standard blender and creates better flours than my food processor could do. I would highly recommend this blender.Read full review
My sister raved about her Vitamix blender so much I thought I would go ahead and purchase one. I already owned another popular juicer but didn't get out of it what I wanted. The day I received my Vitamix mixer I went out and purchased about 25 pounds of fruit. When I got home I made an orange/banana/mango smoothie. It was amazing! This blender mixed everything with ease! We have ingested our vitamins through a straw every day since! I would recommend the Vitamix Blender to anyone! This has been the best small appliance purchase I have ever made. I'm so happy with the Vitamix that I am planning to purchase one for my mother and one for my daughter! And I have purchased another already for my niece and her husbands anniversary!
I've had owned some of the advanced Vita-mix blenders, such as the Vita-mix Pro 500 Brushed Stainless Counter-top Blender and the Vita-mix Blender 5200 Super. These blenders can produce hot soups and very powerful but the draw back that they're very expensive and confused to operate for the first time users. On the other hands, the Vita-mix 4500Turbo blender is a lot cheaper than those I've mention above with two horse power machine and very simple to operate, and it's powerful enough to get the job done. However, the 4500-Turbo blender is very robust and durable that it can survive in the extreme climate and abuse conditions. After all,I give the Vita-mix Turbo-4500 blender five-star for it's functioning, and durable. Peter Dao San Francisco,Ca.
