title sums it up.....the 36 tooth outer gear combined with a 30 tooth crank ring gives me enough climbing leverage to eliminate the front derailleur and granny gear; which saves weight and simplifies shifting.....you can go larger with a 42 or even 44 outer.....riders choice. Make sure your rear Derailleur can handle the larger ring. 36 is max for mid cages.
