This is my first guitar, so after taking a guitar class I finally have a point of reference to make this review. I've received compliments over every aspect of this guitar its sound, its feel and its look. My friend said, " Whoa! dude this is like a legit guitar," when he held it and strummed it. In class I could hear it over everybody else's guitar and it had what I would a call a "bold" sound. The owner of Taylor Mini in one of my classes even complimented it over its sound. He was like, "Man, is that a Martin? It sounds good, it looks sick too." One of the teachers was impressed that I had a Martin guitar. Now what I think. Now that I've heard other guitars and know how comfortable and sturdy the little Martin is I can say this guitar is well worth the money.

I was looking for a guitar of small size I could use while I travel. I really liked the materials this guitar was build from. A all wood guitar, may not handle the temperature changes and high humidity levels of the places I go, So this guitar is a good fit for me. The price was very good, and I knew Martin guitars were one of the best around. When I received this guitar I looked it over and was impressed with the way it looked. I did a quick tune up on it and strummed a few chords. It was way louder and has a nice tone, it surprised me. It is a small guitar, but I can see it being very playable. I am very happy so far. The case is pretty well built, but I am rough of stuff. But for most people it would work well. I did order the SKB padded hard case (SC300), I think enough of this guitar, I want to have it around for many years.Read full review

I was looking for a small guitar to practice with when I travel. The big dread takes up too much space so the small LX makes sense. Even my wife was good with me getting another guitar, imagine that! Anyway, sounds good, plays great like a Martin should. Made in Mexico and of high-pressure laminate it should not be affected by humidity or lack there of. I feel like it is a great value for the money. I even find myself picking it up around the house more often than my other guitars because the smaller size makes it comfortable on the couch. Buy it, you won’t regret it.

My main guitar is a Martin Johnny Cash signature D-35, a magnificent guitar that rivals a piano in tone. I bought the Little Martin in black to take in the RV on camping trips, but after I got it, I found myself playing it almost exclusively at home. Something about that more compact tone caught my attention. It sounds good both fingerpicking and strumming. Because of its size and price point, you don't expect it to sound like a premium full sized Martin guitar, and it doesn't. But it has a decent and unique sound, plays easily, is great for practicing and a perfect travel guitar. It is good for singer songwriter performance, not too loud, it doesn't compete with your voice, just underpins it. It comes with 13 gauge (medium) strings, which made it a bit tough to play, swapped those out for 12'a with no tone loss and easier action. The action was a little high out of the box, but I haven't touched it, since it works great with slide, which means I don't have to lug my steel resonator with me when doing group camping trips with my musician friends. I am a pro singer songwriter, years of full time gigging, owned dozens of guitars. I like this little guy, maybe you will too.Read full review

Had no idea when I purchased this for camping and travel that it would have such big and mellow sound. I have a D28 that has been my go to guitar for decades and I can already tell I will be playing this just as much if not more—especially being so compact for travel.
