I had purchased another brand of mandoline and was really not impressed. I then went ahead and purchased the Swissmar Borner mandoline of which I read about on the web as being the best for the money. It really is great at slicing along with all the other features. Many years ago I had the German made Swiss Borner mandolin and it lasted for almost thirty years. Needless to say, this is well worth the money.

It works, but is confusing and directions are useless. I managed to shred something, but don't feel confident that I can use the device effectively. There's a holder for extra blades. The holder seems to attach to the mandoline, but why? It's very awkward to store the mandoline with the blade holder attached. Decent directions would help a lot.

Overall quality is good. The V shaped cutting blade makes this unit superior to the more expensive units with a angle blade. Would recommend to anyone with a little kitchen experience. All Pros No cons

This item is made of plastic that is not real robust. The blades are sharp but it's hard to get good results. It has no base for product to fall into when cut. Overall I'm not impressed even though America's Test Kitchen rated it high. The high rating is due to the fact that they had worse Mandolins to judge it against.

I never thought there was something that could replace great knives, but this can be it! I find myself using it much more than trying to thinly slice many vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients. Extremely sharp! Definitely worth the money:)
