Don't buy from John Deere
I have a John Deere STX 38 with a Kohler Commander 13 engine, and this part failed. I found the replacement here on ebay for $41 and change w/free shipping. I ordered it. The next day I checked with Washington Tractor w/regards the price and availability of these. $120 and change for a rebuild and they would need to order it. $197 and change for a new one in stock. Now I understand Wa Tractor has to make money, but that is flat ripping people off. The piece I purchased from ebay for $41 was an EXACT match for the one that went bad, and I saved a bunch of money. If you need this starter this is the one to get. It only took a couple days for shipping out of California.
