Works as it should, and can get the lead " red " if it's turned up to high. I must say that it isn't quite as smooth to use as my 70+ year old Lyman lead melting pot. That has a tapered spout to fit the sprue plate --- the shut off as others have mentioned does leak a little, but not much if the lead is not overly hot. I keep it on # 4 and it's no problem. Am I happy with it ? YES it holds more lead and get hot much faster. Would recommend to others.

Lee Pro 4-20 Casting Pot
NO drip! I am casting 4 types of bullets so far,and they are beautiful. I set the pot at 9 to start the melt, then at 5.5 to cast. Thousands of 45/70 to 38 special ( Lee Molds). All range scrap with some pewter thrown in. LOVE IT!

Melt a lot of lead in this thing
Everything is right at hand with this pot but you do have to set the metal ledge to a particular height for your molds. Once you do that it's easy to guide the mold in, pour, cut the sprue, and drop the product. I'm casting around 150 to 200 an hour (that includes setup time) and I'm new to casting bullets. The bad? Ha. My pot was used when I got it so the one issue I have with the loose valve handle is due to that. Temp can be a little difficult to keep set, but not too much. The metal guide plate drags against the mold but that could be solved with a dab of ball joint grease. Mine drips a little sometimes, but again, that's due to it being used. Perhaps the thing I miss most is a lid to keep water from the quench bucket out of the melt. Overall there's not much here to break. It's ... All the bullets
I've been using this furnace for almost 3 years now. I agree it can drip a lot. You just need to keep a pocket screw driver handy. When it starts to drip, turn the seating pin back and forth and it'll stop. I've casted several thousand bullets with this. I was worried about the element burning out due to high usage so i bought a spare. The spare element is still new in the wrapper. If you want to get into casting, this is a great furnace. It's easy to use and a very reasonable price. Only bad thing i can think of is most states are moving away from the usage of lead so you may need to get creative. I have used mine for years. Very good product for making roundballs with. I just purchased another one to begin making pewter buttons. I have not tried it as yet, but my first one is great for lead.

great unit !
