I purchased the Princeton Tec Sector 5 LED scuba dive light new and am delighted with it. I also own the earlier version of this light (Princeton Tec Mini-wave LED). There are many existing negative reviews of the Sector 5 LED scuba light where owners reported that this light flooded shortly after being submerged on the first dive, so I was a little apprehensive when I purchased this. However, I was reassured when I read that Princeton Tec had reportedly corrected the design flaw in the trigger assembly of the light and that the "fixed" models were the ones packaged with the blue 40 year sticker on the package. I have used this scuba light out in the dark ocean waters around Vancouver, BC without any flooding issues whatsoever. Because our seawater is beginning to warm up with warmer summer temperatures, the visibility is dropping down to 5 feet or less in the shallowest surface waters because of algal blooms. A dive light is, therefore, mandatory on every dive and the Princeton Tec Sector 5 dive light has been excellent and performed without any leaking issues on every dive I have used it on (6 "day" dives as of the time of writing this review to a maximum depth of 90 feet and duration of 50 minutes). I have not yet used it on a night dive, but I would have no reservations at using it as my primary dive light for a night dive. It is bright with a focused brighter center (and when directly compared to the earlier Mini-Wave LED, which puts out 390 lumens, you can immediately see the increased brightness of the 550 lumens put out by the Sector 5 LED light). I don't think you would want to use it as a underwater video light as the beam angle is too narrow, but it certainly approaches the output of some of the lower end video lights, so in a pinch you probably could use it. So if you can purchase one of these lights, make sure it is packaged in one of the boxes with the 40 year blue sticker on it, and you should be fine in terms of concerns over underwater flooding.Read full review
