Communication with seller was excellent. Item is perishable (storage at 4C recommended) but was shipped at regular post, so basically sat at ambient temperature for 3 days, which is not good.

All vendors of proteins state that storage at 4C is recommended for all proteins, simply as a matter of course. Indeed some (such as restriction enzymes) can deteriorate fairly rapidly at ambient temps. Fortunately, streptavidin is a highly durable protein and so will be fine for a few days, even weeks at ambient temperature provided an appropriate preservative is present. Its durability is one of the reasons scientists and bioengineers find it so very useful!
