About this product

Product Information

Master storyteller Stephen King (writing as Richard Bachman) presents this gripping and remarkable New York Times bestselling crime novel about a damaged young man who embarks on an ill-advised kidnapping plot--a work as taut and riveting as anything he has ever written. Once upon a time, a fellow named Richard Bachman wrote Blaze on an Olivetti typewriter, then turned the machine over to Stephen King, who used it to write Carrie . Bachman died in 1985 ("cancer of the pseudonym"), but this last gripping Bachman novel resurfaced after being hidden away for decades--an unforgettable crime story tinged with sadness and suspense. Clayton Blaisdell, Jr., was always a small-time delinquent. None too bright either, thanks to the beatings he got as a kid. Then Blaze met George Rackley, a seasoned pro with a hundred cons and one big idea. The kidnapping should go off without a hitch, with George as the brains behind their dangerous scheme. But there's only one problem: by the time the deal goes down, Blaze's partner in crime is dead. Or is he?

This book was not horror and not science fiction but it was still beautifully Stephen King. With profound perception of the human spirit, humor and sadness, Mr. King hits the mark. I especially appreciated his comments to the "constant reader" before the story began. Although it was written years ago and he himself didn't care for it too much at that time, I thought it was well worth reading.

  • Blaze

Being a big Stephen King fan, I have read most of his books (only exception is the Gunslinger series). Although this is a novel from his earlier years, I still thought it was very good - another excellent character study. If you are a SK fan, you will not be disappointed in this.

  • Nice early King

I LIKED the book, not loved the book. It is an earlier dust-off of King's as Richard Bachman. It is great to see some of his earlier works. This is worth checking out. It has his style, but isn't as riveting as others. Bag of Bones has to be my personal favorite. I would probably buy his daily routine if he put it down on paper.

  • Good book
