The lock doesn't stay locked even if I change the numbers on the lock pad to a combo that differs from the default password. There's no instruction on how to use the key to lock/unlock it either and the instructions on changing the default lock password are unclear and unhelpful. This thermostat cover is practically unusable. I returned it.
