This thermostat offers a lot of options including two terminals for reversing valve signal wires (heat and cool) and terminals for both supplemental (auxiliary) as well as Emergency heat. The internal relays are barely audible and the display lights up at the push of either button. All around a great basic thermostat. Admittedly, I didn't use it to control a heat pump, but I'm really happy with this thermostat in my application. I have a Coleman Mach rooftop air conditioner on my RV that came equipped with two control knobs. One knob is for power/fan speed/compressor and the other for temperature control. The factory red/blue analog temperature control is, at best, marginally effective at maintaining stable room temperature and offers no provision to turn off the fan when the compressor isn't running. I wanted to upgrade the system controls to a residential style digital wall thermostat, so I ordered a Coleman Mach 9330C755 Heat-Ready Air Conditioner Cool Control Kit along with a Coleman 9233A4551 Electric Heat Kit. I also wanted use my gas furnace for auxiliary heat and I wanted to control everything with a single thermostat. Coleman sells a thermostat for the rooftop AC & Heat, but it doesn't offer provision to control a separate gas furnace. With the addition of a 12v relay that I located near the control box inside the ceiling unit, this Honeywell Heat Pump Thermostat controls the AC and automatically controls the electric and gas heat sources in sequence, based on the difference between set temperature and room temperature . With this thermostat, I've experienced a dramatic increase in temperature control and comfort of my RV. When I travel, I use campground supplied electricity for AC and primary heat. Supplemental heat comes from my Atwood LP gas furnace. When I'm dry camping without 110v shore power, this thermostat seamlessly controls my gas furnace.Read full review

This well constructed non-programmable thermostat is a joy to use after years of having to program 4-5 different settings per day. Turn the temperature to 74 degrees, it goes to 74 degrees, and stays there until you cahnge the setting or just turn it off. If you have a heat pump with the emergency heat feature and want a simple way to control it, this is the thermostat to get.

This item was fairly easy to install except that when I was installing it I followed the recommended instructions but I had a Purple wire with nowhere to put it and after calling support from Honeywell, They had no idea what to do with it. I gave them the model and type of the thermostat that I removed and they did not know what to do with it.I left it disconnected and it seemed to work ok.

I'm so happy with this purchase. At the hardware store it's $60, I bought it on eBay for $20. Much better than my old Emerson thermostat. A lot easier to install, better technical support, and terminals are much more legible. Heat blows warm, air conditioning blows cold and temperature is accurate. Honeywell is a very good thermostat. Heat pump with auxillary. Made the right purchase.
