Until 1932, Janet her full name Janet Martine, was a headliner on the Keith Orpheum Vaudeville Circut. Show business kept going from bad to worse; vaudeville was a dying form of entertainment. Having been supplanted by movie houses throughout the country. So Janet found herself an ex-headliner and faced the with the necessity if finding some other way to make a living. Thus it was on March 18, 1933 that Janet oped her little restaurant "Janet of France" in New York City.
