Mr. Town is a pseudonym; primarily written and edited by George Colman and Bonnell Thornton.
The Connoisseur was an 18th-century London weekly newspaper published under the pseudonym of Mr. Town. This newspaper ran from Jan. 31 1754 through Sept. 30 1756 and included a total of 140 issues (numbers). According to Wikipedia, "the newspaper was "founded and chiefly run by George Colman the Elder and the parodist Bonnell Thornton as a 'plebeian' counterpart to Edward Moore's The World, a periodical of about the same time, which dealt more with the interests of aristocrats." The four volume set for sale here includes the complete run of 140 numbers of the Connoisseur.
