Jules Huret was a French journalist who rose to notoriety owing to his infamous interviews with writers, including Emile Zola and the five contributors on his work Soirees de Medan, a series of six works based upon Naturalism.
Huret expanded his work to include social discussion regarding foreign countries, travelling first across Europe and then to the USA, writing two works on the subject. This work, \"En Amérique. De New-York à la Nouvelle-Orléans\", first published in the Parisian paper, Le Figaro, discusses a range of subjects regarding American culture, including his view regarding Harvard, the famous New York hotel, The Waldorf Astoria and the New Orleans carnival.
The work offers a fascinating insight into a French perspective of American culture in the early twentieth century, from a journalist renowned for his probing and informative interview technique.
CONDITION
In a quarter calf binding with marbled boards. Externally very smart with just some slight rubbing to the extremities. Slight bumping to extremities of rear board. A few marks to the boards. Internally firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean with just the odd spot, heavier to the fore edge and marginal age toning.
