1936 Australian King Edward V111 Proof Pattern Crown. After a 326 day reign in 1936, King Edward V111 renounced his throne to marry Wallis Simpson, an American who had previously been divorced. Edward became King upon the death of his father King Edward V on January 20,1936 but was never crowned due to his impending marriage to Wallis which was not acceptible to the public. Accordingly,no British coinage were ever issued. He married Wallis Simpson on June 3 1937 and became the Duke of Windsor and Wallis became the Duchess of Windsor.I do not know the exact history of this Coin other than this sold to me as a pattern coin as described.
