ORIGINAL 1695 ETTIENE BAUDET (1638-1711) \'ELEMENT DE LA TERRE\' ENGRAVING AFTER FRANCESCO ALBANI (1578-1660)
This is really a great piece. One of three original Elements engraving Ettiene Baudet did in 1695 after Francesco Albani works. Baudet was an important French engraver of the 17th century and and an engraver for the King of France. His works are in museums around the world including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and many of the other most famous institutions. If you are looking for more information about the artist, just simply google him. I have found one title of this engraving as \"Cybele, Bacchus, Ceres and Flora on a chariot drawn by lions\". An incredible work. A dark crisp impression of an engraving. Sheet measures 24 3/4 x 22 3/4 inches. Sheet is laid paper that is made up of 4 sheets connected together as would have been done in the 17th Century. There are edge tears and some chips but nothing too bad that couldnt be restored if desired. There are some toning stains along the outer edges and some minor stains that goes into the image along the right center. There are some soft marks from an earlier rolling but again nothing too bad.
