On July 4, 1910 Jack Johnson successfully defended his heavyweight title against Jim Jeffries, the former champion. Jeffries had retired undefeated champion after his last fight in 1904. Encouraged greatly by a racist public eager to get rid of Jack Johnson, Jeffries agreed to fight Johnson, but age and an almost six year lay-off, coupled with Johnson\'s great skill and youth proved to be too much. Jeffries was easily defeated in a one sided match. Presented here is a color supplement for the bout picturing both fighters.
The print itself measures at 15\" inches left to right and 10\" inches top to bottom. The frame itself is much larger, measuring at 19 1/2\" inches across and 15 1/2\" inches top to bottom.
This print is in good condition with minor wear from age, including small creases throughout the image, the lining paper has some splotching. The wooden frame has some chips and paint loss, the rear of the frame has some paint splatter along the top. Shown in photos.
