Antique Negretti & Zambra London/Paris Opera Glasses With Mother Of Pearl Inlay.

Here’s an incredibly well preserved antique pair of opera glasses by the world’s leading manufacturer of optical lenses and military field telescopes: Negretti & Zambra, London/Paris. This beautiful pair of opera glasses have mother of pearl rims around the eye glass lenses where you see the manufacturer’s name embossed, and are decorated with ornamental golden guilloche inlay around the barrels. They are optically and mechanically sound and work as intended. They date back to 1850-1890. The right ocular barrel seems to have developed a tiny hairline crack in the coating just below the surface. See pics. The crack appears more prominent than it is because of the enlarged pic., otherwise it is noticeable only if you look closely. This flaw seems to have developed given the age of the item and related weathering. Please note that the red box shown in the pics is a prop used only as a background and not included in the listing.
