Epiphone ET-290 Crestwood Solid Guitar - 1974-1978:
$599.95

** The pickup covers have been replaced on the original pickups, however the spacing on the holes of the covers isn't correct so there is a tiny visible gap between poles. Doesn't effect the sound.
The pickup selector switch is missing the knob top, it seems as if the selector switch shaft was broken. It still works fine and switches between pickups.**Up for sale is a very unique guitar. It is a mid 1970's Epiphone ET-290 Crestwood with a quite amazing red, orange & yellow multicoloredflamed maple body and neck. From what I can tell from my cursory check in Google, it was made in the early to mid 1970's at the Matsumoku plant in Japan right after the decision was made to close the Epiphone plant in Kalamazoo, MI. Epiphone decided to offer a new line of Japanese built Epiphones that had more in common with other Japanese copies than previous Epiphone products had.

The Crestline is often confused with the Coronet, Olympic or the Wilshire models, however the ET-290 Crestwood was an amalgamation of a few older Epiphone body shapes & designs. And unlike the USA made originals, these Japanese models featured a bolt-on neck. They are made of maple, both neck and body, and came with two humbuckers.

They also featured:

Gold hardware

Grover tuning machines

Rosewood fingerboard with pearl-block inlays

Bound neck and headstock

24.75" scale and a 1.68" width nut.

It also comes with the original Epiphone molded hard/soft case.

This guitar plays nicely and the action reminds me of how my Gibson SG plays. For being over 50 years old, barely shows its age. The light patina of the gold hardware, which is natural on a guitar of this age, is both expected and beautiful. Take a look at the pictures, and I am sure you will agree, that this is truly a beautiful guitar.

For what it is worth, like I said, this guitar is as beautiful as it is amazing to play. I am a collector of fine guitars. I am very picky regarding what I buy, play, collect or sell. This one is no exception. Lastly, when I picked this one up, what struck me was that in just about 15 years of collecting guitars, I had NEVER seen, or even HEARD of this model of guitar. The rarity, beauty and playability was what made it a no-brainer to buy.
