Framus Dix J 196 Acoustic Guitar - Vintage - 1970’s - Made in Germany - Country

Very cool vintage guitar. Plays and sounds great! According to the Framus web page noted below, this model was produced from the early to late 1970’s. I would guess it was an older one but it doesn’t have a serial number and from my experience Framus didn’t do a lot of serialization in this era so they can be very difficult to date within a reasonable time period. This is a bow back model. You can see in the pictures how the back bows out a bit. It’s pretty loud and has a great vintage sound. It has a bolt on neck which is nice and makes for easy neck adjustment. Especially for vintage acoustic guitars, it avoids having a neck reset because you can just shim it to adjust to perfection. The bridge is also kind of unique because it’s not glued like most acoustic guitars. It’s held to the top by screws that go through the top and into special nut brackets underneath. The head stock also has some interesting features that you don’t see on many other guitars. There is a “zero” nut between the 1st fret and the nut. I’ve owned a few other guitars that had these and my understanding is that the strings rest on this as a 1st point of contact. Essentially the beginning of the scale and a starting point for the string height. The actual nut basically just determines the string spacing. It also has a very interesting string tree that I’ve never seen on any other brand. Overall this is a very cool old guitar and I hope it inspires someone else to play it for another 50 years!

This Guitar just received a full professional setup! New strings, frets leveled and polished, Tuning gears oiled along with cleaning and polishing the whole guitar. Ready to be played and loved! Lots of character! There are signs of wear all over this guitar. It looks pretty cool. The neck is straight and truss rod moves easily. Everything inside has been checked and is structurally sound. Will include a brand new gig bag.

That all being said, please ask questions before you buy! I would be happy to answer! This is a 50 old guitar so I will be selling it as is. Please look at all the photos closely for condition. I try to take lots of pictures and close ups of damaged or worn areas. This style of “character” or “wear“ or “damage” isn’t for everyone so I just want to be clear and honest. Anyways, thanks for looking and check out my other listings! I will be listing more guitars!
