The "Package Q" airstrike was the largest airstrike of the Gulf War and the largest strike of F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter aircraft in military history. Many aircraft, including the F-117 Nighthawk, were used to attack targets in Baghdad, which was the most heavily defended area of Iraq.

The "downtown" aircraft, F-16s with newer model engines, were chosen for their greater performance. While these aircraft were still making their way to downtown, the F-4 "Wild Weasels" ran low on fuel and departed. Within a short time, however, SAMs directly engaged the F-16 flight.

SAMs hit one F-16 just as the last bombs were striking an Iraqi oil refinery. A second missile impacted near another F-16, damaging it, as the flight evaded SAMs during their egress from Baghdad. Its pilot, Major Jeffrey Scott Tice ejected safely after travelling 150 miles inside Iraq, but became a POW as the ejection took place over Iraq. Wreckage was later found by the US Marines who received orders to destroy the aircraft. Years later, its canopy was discovered by American ground troops in 2003 during Operation Iraqi Freedom. The canopy was recovered and, as the only remaining part of #87-0257, it is now on display at the Pima Air and Space museum in Arizona.

Lockheed F-16C Fighting Falcon Designed by General Dynamics as a lightweight, daytime USAF air-combat fighter, the F-16 was first flown on January 20th, 1974. This single-engine, supersonic aircraft has, over the years, evolved into a multirole aircraft. It has a frameless bubble canopy-giving its pilot superior visibility-and it uses advanced aerodynamics. The F-16 was one of the first designs to use a relaxed static stability/fly-by-wire system, which helps it pull 9-g maneuvers and achieve speeds of more than Mach 2. Called "Viper" by its pilots, the F-16 is considered one of the most successful aircraft designs of the Cold War, with 4,400+ aircraft built since 1976.

Hobby Master's 1:72 scale F-16 is constructed using an intelligent mix of diecast metal and plastic, which allows for the greatest possible detail. Among this model's most remarkable features are an articulating hinged opening canopy that closes with almost no visible gap and landing gear that has been constructed as subassemblies for easy configuration. It also includes a large number of pad-printed flight instruments and a rudder and engine intake that are accurately replicated in plastic. The models in this series cover early variants to the most advanced later variants featuring conformal fuel tanks as well as both single and two seat variants.
