For sale is a small quaint yet outstanding English watercolor featuring an English countryside landscape with the famed Warwick Castle in the background. A man is pictured fishing in the stream in the foreground while his wife and child enjoy the day by the water.
Provenance: Property from the Estate of Dr. Samy Iosub: New Jersey collector of Old Master Paintings.
The painting is certainly done by a well schooled English artist. The painting is unsigned. It has pencil inscription on reverse denoting the location of Warwick Castle and dated 1824.
Warwick Castle is a medieval castle developed from a wooden fort, originally built by William the Conqueror during 1068. Warwick is the county town of Warwickshire, England, situated on a meander of the River Avon.
There were numerous highly regarded English painters Painting during the time frame that this painting was created. With it being unsigned we sell it simply as an early 19th century English romantic landscape. There are no attributions made.
A pure gem.
Condition: Very good. A small light vertical crease on the left side(see pic). Dust jacket opened to examine painting. Tape resealed.
