Up for sale in this listing is a stunning 1980s German re-release poster for the film noir classic, Double Indemnity (1944), starring Fred MacMurray, Barbara Stanwyck and Edward G. Robinson. The film was directed by the legendary Billy Wilder from a script that Wilder wrote together with Raymond Chandler, based on a novel by James M. Cain.
This is a very striking/memorable poster that prominently features the same iconic image of MacMurray’s limping/silhouetted character, Walter Neff, that appears behind the film’s opening credits.
The poster is an A1 size poster (23x33) that’s been linen mounted. With the linen backing, the poster measures approximately 27.5” x 37.” Although the poster is in overall fairly nice shape, there are a few flaws I need to point out which I’ve captured in the photos: There’s some discoloration along the left border. There’s also some wrinkling/cracking that appears in the main image. Also, a small streak on the left side of the poster, just above MacMurray’s right hand. Nevertheless, the poster is still quite nice and is quite presentable, and this is good opportunity to snag it at a reduced cost.
