Operating range 21-30MHz,low drive 6W AM/FM/SSB/CW - especially useful, e.g. for a radio with an output power of 4W.
The antenna amplifier significantly improves the transmittingand receiving range to a small extent (thanks to the built-in +25dB preamplifier).
The first switchfrom the leftis responsible for selecting the appropriate AM/SSB broadcast.It is important that it is always set in accordance with the selected broadcast on the radio.
Middle switch:preamplifier (25db)is turned on by a switch on the housing.When it is turned on, the green indicator light is on.The amplifier can be permanently connected to the antenna installation, but it does not have to be used all the time (e.g. we can only use the preamplifier).
Switch first on the right:output power amplification on/off switch.
The knob on the right is used to select one of six output power levels.
The great advantage of this function is the fact that no intervention in the radio is required to obtain the appropriate amplifier drive.
KL 503 can be controlled with an input power of 1-6W.
Installation of RM KL-503
The amplifier is easy to install, just connect it to the antenna path (between the radio and the antenna).It must be supplied with appropriate power supply (see technical data - current consumption).
We strongly advise against connecting the amplifier using a car cigarette lighter plug.
The amplifier requires an optional radio-amplifier connection cable that is at least 90 cm long.
We recommend a high-quality, low-loss cable, 100 cm long, with soldered plugs.
The amplifier should only be used with a very well tuned antenna (VSWR <1.5).
At high SWR, the final power stage may be damaged, which is not covered by warranty.
The maximum power can be obtained with an input power of 6W (result ~250-300W).
To combine high power with clean modulation (without distortion), you should not supply maximum power to the amplifier.
The optimal setting for AM/FM is 2-3W.Applying too much input power to the amplifier may damage the device.
When using an amplifier, we recommend using the original RM 27/586 low-pass filter.
The use of power amplifiers in the 27MHz band is not allowed in our country.
Transmit performance gain
To increase the signal by 1S, approximately 4 times more power must be supplied.
That is: 1W - 4W - 16W - 64W - 256W etc.
To sum up: by increasing the power of the radio from 4W to 40W, we will not transmit 10 times further/louder, the signal will increase by approximately 2S.
