UnexpectedShut-Downs on your heater? The Flame sensor could be the problem...Theflame sensor is a safety device designed to verify the presence of a flame in agas heating appliance. When the gas valve opens and the burners ignite, thesensor detects the flame and sends a signal to the control board to keep thegas valve open. If for any reason the flame goes out (or the sensor can't seethe flame momentarily), the gas valve closes immediately.
After a time, a sensorbecomes coated with burned dirt and dust and could be the reason for unpredictableshut-downs of the heater! It's almost impossible to reliably test a flamesensor.
The best way is to remove the old sensor and replace it with a new, functioningsensor. If does not solve the main problem - at least one possible futureobstacle is eliminated at your stove!
