For sale is a vintage Starrett micrometer set. All mics are in very good shape. The 0-1” #230 is a more modern production micrometer added to make this set complete. The rest of the micrometers (1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 4-5 and 5-6”) are all pre World War One production and are in very good shape. Starrett stopped putting the patent dates on their micrometers during World War one as a time saving measure. That puts these micrometers production between 1900 and 1915 or so.
The set comes with a new Starrett wood micrometer box, the adjustment wrench and all standards. The 1-2” and 2-3” mics have .0001” scales. The 5-6” mic is the only one with some minor chipping in the black japaning on the main body of the micrometer. The rest are all near perfect. The measuring faces are all in perfect shape. These mics saw very, very little use.
I doubt there is a set of Starrett mics from this era this complete that is in as good condition as this one is. An excellent addition to any Starrett collectors collection or perfectly usable for a machinist to have a full 0-6” set.
