This is truly a stunningly beautiful piece that I view as somewhat of a time capsule. I purchased this jacket back in the \'90s for my wife, unfortunately, when we moved across country not even two weeks later - she forgot she ever owned it! Somehow or another, this jacket ended up in our temperature/humidity controlled storage unit, where it remained until just recently!This piece was NEVER WORN. It is in flawless condition - which makes this piece arguably one of the (if not the) best conditioned Lianne Barnes originals on the market today.
It is worth noting that these jackets were VERY expensive back in the day... living in San Francisco at the time (mid to late \'90s), Lianne Barnes was THE trending fashion icon. Most desired were her \"Western\" themed hand knit, intricately composed jackets. Well... I noticed my wife talking with a friend about this \"Lianne Barnes,\" and so I went out and bought the most expensive Lianne Barned western jacket I could find. Rest assured, I paid far more back then for this jacket, compared to what we are asking for now.
Part of Lianne Barnes \'90s era \"Cowgirl\" line, this western jacket is beautifully composed. I kid you not when I say that this is just the most plush, soft, comfortable piece of western wear! When I stumbled upon the jacket in storage, my wife said \"Oh I\'m too old for that now. It\'s a young woman\'s jacket!\" That said, while she wasn\'t going to sport the piece in public, we almost held on to it simply because it is such a COMFORTABLE wear. It is delicate, yet solidly composed. It is thick, but wonderfully aerated in its woven knit complexion. In essence, this is a high quality piece, made using high quality materials (by very skilled hands). It is no surprise to me that these jackets were such a thing back in the \'90s. They just don\'t make clothing as such anymore.
As for the design itself? Well, what is there to say other than this piece perfectly captures the all things \"Western.\" It bears thick brass buttons, a wonderful and contrasting two tone color scheme, and thick, visible seams throughout (making this piece appear as though it was pieced together over time (: The collar is open, which allows for a layered outfit - as well as extra breathability.
Of course, the star of the show is (in my mind) the large patch at the back. This inlaid patchwork is almost otherworldly in its intricate, lovely detail. The patch is soft and flexible (like the rest of the jacket). I have always found it incredible that one can achieve THIS level of artistic detail on a medium of cloth patch... simply stunning - and a highly unique element of this jacket that makes it the perfect conversation starter.
At any rate, this is a beautiful piece - in beautiful condition. It is certainly a \"one off\" these days, as I\'m yet to see a Lianne Barnes patchwork \'90s Cowgirl Western Jacket hit the market...
