The LAV-AD armored air defense system is composed of a weapon turret equipped with the \"Avenger\" air defense system on the chassis of a LAV-25 armored vehicle. Its main function is to provide low-altitude defensive firepower for armored mechanized forces. The main combat targets of this system are armed helicopters, fixed-wing aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles with a speed range of 0-500 miles. The weapons used include \"Stinger\" Missiles and 25mm cannons, etc. The weapons turret includes a forward-looking infrared targeting system and a laser rangefinder, and can be optionally equipped with Stinger missiles or a GAU-12/U 25mm rotating cannon. This system combines all the advantages of the LAV-25 armored vehicle and the \"Avenger\" air defense system. Two weapons operators inside the armored vehicle can also visually search for air targets from the windows on the left and right sides of the turret.
