According to our family’s story, the first Jackalope came into being in Wyoming with my husband’s grandfather. After a hunting trip, he brought home a two‑point whitetail and a jackrabbit. When the deer antlers and the jackrabbit ended up next to each other, it looked as if the antlers belonged on the rabbit’s head. His mother saw it and said, “Oh, let’s call that a Jackalope.” That name stuck, and the Jackalope has been part of our family history ever since.
This mount honors that original tradition and storytelling. The antlers and jackrabbit are real!
