This is a RARE VINTAGE DISC PENDANT and EARRING SET , signed and created by MIGUEL PINEDA in mid 80\'s. The earrings are two halves of a CIRCLE , so they match the HALF CIRCLE PENDANT , its quite GEOMETRIC AND COLORFUL IN ITS DESIGN.We purchased directly from the shop in MEXICO, when I used to work for a ART SHOP IN FLORIDA.We would go down over the border and purchase ART AND ACRYLIC PAINTINGS and sell them back in the local SAW GRASS MILLS MALL...Those were the days!
This was a rare find even back then , when i walked in his shop , and was floored to see his work was so colorful , when a time everything was going NEON.
THE COLORS ARE VERY ORGANIC AND VIBRANT EARTH-TONES almost LIKE LIQUID GEMSTONES, that give it a very unique effect, as most enameled work is mosaic , so this is fresh and different.I made it a habit of picking up something on each visit when i could.I now have several of his MAYAN AND AZTEC SILVER DESIGN ART POTTERY that I will list at another time.I grabbed it for my wife discussed with her how it now should be loved by someone who understands its rarity its unique beauty.
Enameled glass is lost art.
MIGUEL PINEDA did not make many FOLK ART JEWELRY pieces , but he did sign them all. I think this really should be in a museum in MEXICO CITY , look me up will ya if you know anyone in the museum there will ya ! I could really use the money.
