striking vintage hand-carved African decorative wall mask. Inspired by the traditional Kpelie masquerade masks of the Senufo people, this piece exhibits excellent craftsmanship and deep textural contrast.
The face is meticulously carved with narrow, downcast eyes, linear facial markings, and an elongated nose. Perched atop the crown is a distinct figure of a hornbill bird—a bird deeply revered in West African culture as a symbol of growth and protection. Framing the mask is a rugged, hand-applied metal border shaped into decorative spikes, giving the piece a gorgeous mixed-media finish.
