Offered is an original 4.5 x 8.5 inch 1910 invoice from JOSEPH G. PLANTE & CO of Manchester, New Hampshire, wholesale and retail dealers in whiskeys and bottlers of Frank Jones’ Portsmouth Ales and Nourishing Stout.
Dated September 29, 1910, and addressed to G. H. FARLEY, 829 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH. The printed letterhead lists:
The invoice shows a balance entry dated August 23, 1910 for $1.00, and is boldly stamped “PAST DUE”, adding nice visual character and period business urgency.
This is a wonderful pre-Prohibition New Hampshire liquor merchant document, reflecting early 20th-century alcohol distribution before nationwide prohibition in 1920. The typography is attractive, especially the large “WHISKEYS” lettering and dual-address Elm Street heading.
Condition: Folded as originally mailed or filed, with age toning, light staining, and handling wear visible on both sides. Reverse shows typical storage toning and fold lines. Please review photographs carefully.
