Illustrated by Pamela Colman Smith
The Century Co., New York
Published October 1914 — First Edition / First Printing
Scarce original 1914 edition of The Book of Friendly Giants, especially desirable for its illustrations by Pamela Colman Smith, the artist best known for her iconic artwork for the Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot.
Beautifully illustrated throughout with Smith\'s distinctive artwork, including all 11 full-page illustrations listed in the book, as well as numerous smaller illustrations and decorative pictorial endpapers.
Original green pictorial cloth binding with an illustrated front cover. The spine has faded with age and the binding shows wear at the extremities, but the book remains intact and presents very nicely, particularly internally. The illustrations are striking and retain strong contrast.
A scarce early Pamela Colman Smith illustrated book and an appealing collectible for collectors of her artwork, early 20th-century children\'s books, fantasy illustration, or Tarot-related material.
All 11 listed full-page illustrations have been individually checked and are present.
