An uncommon early ROTC and U.S. Coast Artillery publication documenting military training at Fort Monroe, Virginia, one of the most important historic coastal defense installations in the United States.
The volume includes a historical section on the camp, photographs and accounts of training, artillery instruction, camp life, and participating institutions. The historical text notes that Fort Monroe served as headquarters of the Coast Artillery School and describes training with heavy artillery, machine guns, mortars, and other military equipment.
The rear statistical page lists participating institutions and enrollment figures, including schools such as:
- Massachusetts Institute of Technology
- University of Alabama
- Georgia School of Technology
- University of Minnesota
- University of Wisconsin
- University of Kansas
- University of Illinois
- University of Cincinnati
- Virginia Military Institute
- Washington University and others
The cover is especially attractive, with red printed military imagery and the title HOME RAM, retaining its original red, white, and blue cord binding.
A scarce piece of interwar U.S. military history, particularly desirable for collectors of Fort Monroe, Coast Artillery Corps, ROTC, Virginia history, military academies, and early 20th-century military ephemera.
Condition: Good overall antique condition. Covers show expected rubbing, handling wear, edge and corner wear, and some surface discoloration. Interior pages show age toning and occasional spotting. Original patriotic cord binding remains present. Please review photographs for exact condition.
