Early American vintage edition of C.S. Lewis's classic theological satire, The Screwtape Letters, published by The Macmillan Company in New York. This copy features the stated December 1946 printing history (the 13th American impression) and includes the famous dedication page to J.R.R. Tolkien.
Condition Details:
Dust Jacket: Included. Shows visible wear and tear commensurate with age, including edge rubbing, minor chipping/loss at the top and bottom spine ends, and small closed tears along the margins.
Cloth Cover: The book underneath is in beautiful condition. The deep red woven cloth boards are crisp and bright with sharp corners. The black spine stamping ("THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS / LEWIS / MACMILLAN") remains bold and unfaded.
Binding: Tight, structurally sound. No missing pages.
Interior Pages: The main text block is crisp, clean, and unmarked. The endpapers and inside boards show natural age-related toning and some mild foxing/spotting (as pictured), typical for 1940s paper stocks.
