1969 AMT Leif Ericson Galactic Cruiser, Strategic Space Command Line S954-250Complete kit with sealed wiring and Sounds of Outer Space record!This is the original release of the Leif Ericson Kit, made from 1969-1971 by AMT before being reused as the UFO Model in 1974 and later reissued in 2009 and 2011 by Round2/AMT. This particular kit is one of the earlier production kits from 1969, identifiable by the -250 suffix on the box, the warranty printed on the instructions, the drum lacquer chrome pieces (which by 1971 were a more brilliant mirror chrome), and the sealed wiring bag which includes the decal sheet and clear red pieces.The Leif Ericson was designed by Matt Jefferies, the designer of Star Trek\'s USS Enterprise and Klingon Battle Cruiser! This ship design almost appeared in Star Trek: The Animated Series, and can be seen in storyboard panels from unfinished episodes of the show!The box is in very good condition, with some waviness on the lid and light water staining visible inside the lid and on the box bottom. The colors are vivid and bright, and only a few small spots and scuffs are evident on the sides. The box bottom is also in good condition. This is the early printing of the box where AMT included the -250 price suffix next to the S954 kit number on the side panels.The model is complete and features all 20 grey pieces in original condition, apart from the 4 grey pieces of the Scout Craft Vega which have been glued together well (see pictures). The chrome pieces are mostly still on the sprue, and are all present with their drum lacquer coating, which was changed to a more brilliantly reflective chroming in 1971. The clear red pieces are still sealed with the wiring components in their original bag. The molds for these pieces were lost sometime after the kit was discontinued, and new ones had to be created for the kit\'s rerelease in 2011!The instructions are included and are the correct 1969 printing, where the warranty information is included on the back page. The instructions fold open to reveal the \'Space Cadet Story,\' as advertised on the box. They are in very good condition, with light tanning.The decal sheet is the correct one for this kit, with the April 1969 print code (4-69) that all Leif Ericson decal sheets have. The wiring components are original and sealed in their bag, see pictures.The very scarce 33 1/3 RPM AuraVision Paper Record \"Sounds of Outer Space\" is included in the kit, as advertised on the box! The record has been used, see pictures, and is untested.Great chance to own a complete nice example of the first release of AMT\'s Leif Ericson Galactic Cruiser from 1969!Thanks for looking!
