Up for sale is a rare 1976 Crane Potato Chips Baseball Card Disc of Boston Red Sox Hall of Famer Carlton. This disc is in "acceptable" condition which is judged to be "very good" in this instance. Please read the description very carefully. The disc has some imperfections, including some miscellaneous mark, surface scratches/indentations and edge/perimeter wear. There's also some yellowing/fading due to age. Please see photos for more information.
Carlton Ernest Fisk nicknamed"Pudge" and "The Commander" a former Major League Baseball catcher. He played from 1969 to 1993 for theBoston Red Sox(1969, 19711980) and Chicago White Sox (19811993). He was the first player to be unanimously voted American League Rookie of the Year (1972). Fisk is best known for "waving fair" his game-winning home run in the 12th inning of Game 6 of the1975 World Series.
At the time of his retirement, Fisk held the record for mosthome runs all-time by a catcher with 351 (since surpassed by Mike Piazza). He has held several age- or longevity-related records, including the record for most games played at the position of catcher with 2,226 (later surpassed byIvn Rodrguez).
Fisk still holds the American League record for most years served behind the plate (24). Fisk was voted to the All-Star team 11 times and won three Silver Slugger Awards which is awarded annually to the best offensive player at each position. Fisk was elected to theBaseball Hall of Famein 2000.
The 1976 Crane Potato Chips Baseball Discs Complete Set contained 70 cards. The roster includes a number of Hall of Famers like HoFers Aaron (his final year), Bench, Brock, Carew, Carlton, Fisk, Jackson, Lynn (rookie), Morgan, Palmer, Perez, Brooks and Frank Robinson, Rose, Ryan, Seaver, Stargell, Sutton and Yastrzemski. Also included was the beloved Yankee Captain Thurman Munson. Because these discs were distributed on a limited basis they'd are more rare than other baseball disc sets.
