I have specifically sought out the best PSA 9’s I could find for my sets with non faded borders being a key component of my searches. This example has a really nice dark border not just in the pictured but in person.
I also look for nice white backgrounds as some have a darkened/aged and sometimes even tarnished look to them. This is nice example of a naturally white background without any extreme aging or tarnishing.
This fading on the black borders and the color change on the back may be something that happened after those instances were encased or maybe PSA doesn’t scrutinize them the way I do. It could be something that was a printing issue from the beginning on certain cards. I just know that I quickly noticed the differences when collecting these under appreciated black border super rare cards. The faded black border cards are just obviously not an appealing as the nice dark bordered ones. And for that I am asking a premium and I am in no hurry to sell.
I have had some bad experiences where sellers play with the photo setting to make the borders look dark or the backs look lighter… I have done nothing. Just point and shoot. What you see is what you get.
