Enmerkar and Ensuhkesdanna: A Sumerian Narrative Poem is a scholarly study and edition of an important work of ancient Mesopotamian literature, in which Adele Berlin examines a Sumerian narrative centered on the rivalry between the ruler Enmerkar of Uruk and Ensuhkesdanna. Published in 1979 by the University Museum in Philadelphia as part of the Babylonian Fund series, the book presents this early literary text as a valuable source for the study of Sumerian mythology, kingship, diplomacy, and the broader intellectual culture of the ancient Near East. Though academic in nature, it is an appealing work for collectors and institutions interested in Assyriology, cuneiform texts, and the origins of written literature. Minimal rubbing, else in very good + condition.
