This is a set of 7 books from Mott Media, a 1983 reprint of the 1836 - 1838 McGuffey’s Readers
Back when educational resources were more God centered.
I’ve been very pleased with these books. I have a set I am keeping with the teacher’s manual (which isn’t totally necessary when using these books, as they clearly explain everything at the beginning of each book)
I’ve had great success teaching my 7 & 12 year old to read well with them, and because the phrasing is older, my kids have learned new words that they wouldn’t have otherwise, in today’s world and books. Thus expanding their vocabulary and assisting in their understanding and ability to read classic literature and books with older phrasing (the Bible for instance) I’ve noticed a significant improvement in my 12 year olds vocabulary and reading skills.
I found a resource on YouTube, that recommends these books specifically.
Channel: Mom Delights
Sherry (of whom the channel belongs) is a mom of 15 who's been homeschooling for almost 40 years, and has had incredible success with these books. She has created resource material to go along with these books as well, to assist moms in homeschooling and make the task easier.
After diving into older educational materials, I’ve come to prefer these books for teaching reading skills.
