Vintage Etienne Aigner shoulder bag in structured black canvas, sharply outlined with white contrast stitching and finished with black leather trim and polished silver-tone hardware.

The compact rectangular silhouette is quintessential late-1990s to early-2000s Aigner: tailored, practical and quietly graphic. White piping traces the architecture of the bag while the silver-tone Aigner plaque provides the only ornament the front really needs.

A zip-top opening leads to a dark lined interior with zip pocket, while the short shoulder strap keeps the proportions neat and close to the body.

  CONDITION

  Beautifully kept with the black canvas remaining rich and even, the white piping crisp against the body, and the interior presenting cleanly. Gentle character at the edges reflects normal previous use without taking away from the bag\'s wonderfully tailored appearance.

  Black and white has always understood that it needn\'t try terribly hard.

  Aigner gave this one a clean little canvas body, drew around it in white stitching, added a polished silver signature and wisely stopped there. The result feels distinctly turn-of-the-century without becoming trapped there — the sort of small shoulder bag that still looks perfectly right with a white shirt, dark denim and good loafers.

  Small, tailored and considerably more useful than its proportions first suggest.
