A charming 19th-century watercolour landscape, depicting a tranquil rural river scene with a small boat, figure, cottage, trees and open countryside beneath a softly coloured evening sky.
The work has a particularly atmospheric quality, with delicate watercolour washes and fine detail throughout. The composition captures the peaceful character of the English countryside and would make an attractive addition to a traditional or country-style interior.
The painting appears to bear initials “JMP” to the lower left. The artist has not been identified, so it is offered as an unsigned/unattributed 19th-century work apart from the visible initials, rather than being attributed to a named artist.
Presented in an attractive gilt-effect wooden frame with a wide mount and glazing.
