Up for sale is an incredibly rare, PSA certified piece of WOTC TCG history: a 1st Edition Fossil Haunter Holo featuring possibly the largest Yellow Stain Error card on the market. This may be the holy-grail Yellow Stain variant, given its incomparable size and rarity. Additional details below. BACKGROUND:
Two WotC era holos were particularly known to have a recurring "stain" error: Haunter #7/62 and Hitmonlee #6/62. The most common were a Blue-stain variant and were known as Blue-Stain Haunter and Stainmonlee. A far more rare stain error variant on these two cards have Yellow-Stains or “streaks” (also known as “cigar stains”). With the Yellow Stain Haunter considered far more rare than the Yellow Stain Hitmonlee. A 1-of-1 Error Card:
The yellow-stain error is the result of excessive yellow ink applied to these cards’ mid-left side. With every sheet that was printed, the ink slowly diminished until the excess ink was completely gone. This means that all instances of this error are slightly unique. And in turn, this meant that the stain errors showed a wide range of severity on the cards. Stain severity and rarity:
Most yellow-stain Haunters have been documented with 1 or 2 small streaks on the left side. They most commonly occur below the art box of the card. However in extreme cases the stain and what makes this card incredibly rare among other error cards is that the stain extends into the card art, completely penetrating the holographic artwork window. In my opinion this specific card represents likely the most severe, and highly sought-after aesthetic of the yellow stain or “cigar stain” defect.
