This stately specimen displays a rich red color with a splash of violet-pink and is beautifully formed! If you are familiar with the world of rubies, you will know that Didy, near Ambatondrazaka Madagascar is the site of a major gem corundum deposit discovered in April, 2012. For a short period, this discovery yielded many rubies and sapphires of exceptional quality, many weighing over 10 carats! Being on protected land, the mine was promptly shut down later in 2012 making gems and crystals from this locality incredibly rare!
