After lots of research, this appears to be a Northwood “Nearcut” Early American Pattern Glass clear shallow bowl. “Nearcut” was the name given to Northwoods pattern glass that looks and sparkles like cut glass and this one does. Plus it looks identical to a couple I have seen online; however, it does not have the underlined N that was scripted on the bottom. Upon research, it’s mostly the carnival glass that was marked shortly after this time. It is made of a heavy thick glass with that nice sparkle. This bowl was cherished and cared for for over 100 years. Hand wash is recommended.
The “Nearcut” was made in 1905-1906 by Northwood H Company in Wheeling, West Virginia. The round bowl measures 10 3/4” diameter and 2 1/2” height. The bowl has 4 seams. There are 3 chips (shown on the last 3 pictures) where it sits on the bottom. There are some minor scratches, as well, as one would expect from a piece this old.
Overall, in very good condition considering this shallow bowl is 118 years old.
