It dates back to thelate 18th or 19th century. It will come with two pairs of antique working scissors. The box is in excellent original condition.The distinct mottled brown and amber pattern mimics classic tortoiseshell. During the 19th century, luxury pieces were made using genuine Hawksbill sea turtle shell veneers, while others used clever faux alternatives like stained horn or early celluloid. It featuresa simple button-push front latch that is in working order.It has a classic Georgian domed or sarcophagus-style lid, small rounded bone feet.
