Antique folding checkers and backgammon game board featuring beautiful Victorian-era lithographed decoration.
The exterior features a classic red and black checkerboard surrounded by an ornate gold, red and black floral border. The board folds open to reveal a striking backgammon playing surface decorated with birds perched among bamboo and foliage, along with bold red, black and gold points.
The outer spine is decorated to resemble antique book bindings and reads “HAPPY HOURS VOL. I” and “HAPPY HOURS VOL. III.” A particularly attractive early game board with wonderful color and graphic appeal.
Measures approximately 17" x 17" when opened.
Shows substantial age-related wear including edge and corner wear, paper loss, scuffs, scratches, staining/discoloration and wear around the folding/spine area. Please examine photographs closely for condition. Sold as shown; no playing pieces included.
Wonderful piece for a collection of antique games, Victorian toys, folk art, lithographed advertising/game boards or primitive Americana décor.
