A beautiful and unusually substantial antique 12K gold-filled hinged bangle bracelet, weighing an impressive 38.50 grams.
The front is hand engraved with the initials M • B • S in elaborate Old English/Gothic-style script, surrounded by delicate hand-cut accent marks. The engraving is deep, crisp and wonderfully decorative—a striking example of the personalized jewelry that was so popular during the Edwardian period.
The interior is clearly stamped:
“PAT’D. DEC. 26. ’05”
indicating a design patented on December 26, 1905 and providing an excellent period reference for this antique bracelet.
At 38.50 grams, this is a substantial piece with wonderful weight and presence on the wrist. The wide, gently domed band has a hinged construction and closure that allows the bracelet to open for easier wear.
Importantly, this bracelet has been left UNPOLISHED. It retains its beautiful original antique patina, including the warm variations in gold tone, light surface scratches and signs of wear acquired through many decades of use. I have intentionally not polished or buffed the bracelet, as I believe its aged surface is an important part of its history and character.

The patent date should not be interpreted as an exact manufacture date, but it places the bracelet’s patented design firmly in the early 20th-century/Edwardian period.
